Founded in 2005, Liquid Spirits is a modern soul band formed by the production duo Wiboud Burkens (keys) and Manuel Hugas (bass). Their distinctive sound is unconventional and experimental, influenced by artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Miles Davis, Anderson .Paak, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Burkens and Hugas have made their mark on the international soul scene. In addition to Liquid Spirits, they have frequently collaborated and toured with Leon Ware (composer for Marvin Gaye/Michael Jackson) and rapper Phonté Coleman (Little Brother). They also wrote and produced the track 'Tragic Inevitability' for multiple Grammy winner Lalah Hathaway.
During the writing sessions, a strong synergy emerged with the renowned soul singer and lyricist Ivan 'vAn' Peroti. The layered and exciting production of Hugas and Burkens, combined with Peroti's socially engaged lyrics, distinctive vocal style, creativity, and fantastic voice, will once again result in a distinctive soul album; authentic and uncompromising.
